Making Every Volunteer Hour Count

Volunteers bring enthusiasm, energy, skills and fresh perspectives to Miradi society. They enrich our programs and make Miradi society’s vision of self-reliant families and communities in rural Africa possible.

Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals and community groups in rural Africa by availing resources to them through mobilization, education and volunteerism. Consequently, Miradi society strives to create opportunities for meaningful engagement for every volunteer, removing potential obstacles and facilitating involvement in causes they are passionate about. In so doing we aim to make every volunteer hour count towards creating the future we all envision. Volunteers are liaisons to the community, and by their contribution are advocates for the kind of change our society desires.

To enable a vibrant and effective volunteerism, Miradi society purposes to adhere to servant leadership principles as modeled by the Lord Jesus Christ. Scripture provides insight on Christ’s servant leadership model, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3-4 NIV). In the same way, our volunteer program seeks not just the good of the organization, but equally desires to see every volunteer has a meaningful, worthwhile, rewarding and enjoyable experience. Achieving this goal validates our mission of making every volunteer hour count.

Miradi society is equally committed to a necessary paradigm shift whereby volunteers are treated with equality and respect for the value they are to societal efforts of creating a better future. We purposefully engage volunteers in a collaborative approach, reconciling their personal vision with that of our society. In so doing we expect to create an environment where the volunteers’ aspirations are equally realized.

Thank you to all those who have volunteered to assist at our upcoming
